An album of country rock - on the borders of alt-country. Lou Ford have a great singer and songwriter in Alan Edwards. They don't break any barriers of originality but they provide a great soundtrack to the last 20 years of real American music. Maybe too American for the rest of the world.Storz' Bar has the most beautiful moment when they sing "You're just wasting your time, listening to this". No way does this refer to the song itself - it is a stunning piece based on piano and a bit of country twang in the guitar solo. The highlight of the album. So As I Go is a passionate song full of regrets and pain, full of longing, harmonies, and a guitar solo to kill for.If you feel that alt-country is sometimes just a little too contemplative for it's own good and you need a bit of energy, then you can should try Lou Ford. Sometimes they're good-time, sometimes a playful update on traditional country rock - and sometimes they just play beautiful melancholy, melodic guitar music.
